About Amjad Bashir
Let's Make Britain Great!
I have represented Yorkshire and the Humber in the European Parliament during 2014-2019. I am proud to speak for the most determined and bloody-minded people and the most beautiful county in England. I am a local businessman. I went to Thornton Grammar school, attended Bradford University and opened my first business in 1976, working incredibly long hours at “Whiteley Lane food store” in Bradford and “Braithwaite food store” in Keighley. In 1979, I opened my first Kebabeesh on Whetley Lane, Bradford - a resounding success because it had the very first open kitchen allowing the customers to see the cooking taking place. Then I opened the Sheikh’s restaurant in a disused chapel in Westgate, Bradford in 1984. At that time, it was the most opulent and glamorous Indian restaurant attracting customers from all around Yorkshire and from further afield.
I also established a food factory to supply food counters at ASDA (Walmart).
Over a 40-year career, I have created more than 300 tax contributing jobs in food processing and catering in Yorkshire and Lancashire.
I have been active in politics since 2012 when I joined UKIP a party built around patriotic values and greater British sovereignty and independence from the European Union.
I Strongly believe in...

Political Solutions
As a British Conservative of Pakistani descent, I am dedicated to making a positive contribution to Britain and British society. Because, undoubtedly, Britain stands out as one of the most inclusive countries worldwide allowing people of all backgrounds to be given opportunities to prosper.
As Britain gets out of the EU throwing itself into the world my political priorities are:
• Making Brexit work for everyone
• Cutting taxes and red-tape in particular for small businesses
• Promoting selection and academic excellence in our schools
• Controlling Britain’s borders
• Defending free speech & human rights across the world.
